Posted July 4, 201113 yr comment_360670 is there a good source for buying a bag of (shrivet pins) the ribbed pin that fits in the slots of the edges along the inside of the body. They secure the various panels.:ermm: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40103-fasteners-for-trim-panels/ Share on other sites
July 5, 201113 yr comment_360679 MSA has them. Bit pricey. The center pin is 1/8 in diameter, hobby stores have plastic stock.I'm a fan of replacing them once and for all with insert nuts and 8-32 machine screws. Mcmaster Carr has black ones with big heads. Cuts down on squeeks and never lose those rotten pins again! July 5, 201113 yr comment_360690 I switched to using wood dowel pins instead of the plastic. They don't bend when you push them in, and one piece gives you dozens of pins. July 6, 201113 yr comment_360831 the ones from Z Car Source are cheaper, only 5.50 for 10. http://www.zcarsource.com/content/p/9/pid/59805/catid/7840_8438/Interior_Rivet_74_5_78_Dark_Brown_newi may look for an alternate as i don't want to wait for shipping from florida to canada, spo may explore the ones for the ford..... a part number would rock ! July 7, 201113 yr comment_360882 Darom, no stock number, I get them from a place that just sells all types of automotive fasteners, I got like 50 from them for $18. The head is slightly bigger and are about 3/16" longer than the stock Z type. July 7, 201113 yr comment_360905 Mjr45, if it is not too much trouble, can you post a picture of the Ford fastener with maybe outside diameter and height measurements in mm? I will visit my local upholstery shop and try to locate these. I am using sheet metal screws now to hold my panels (painted black). Thanks! July 8, 201113 yr comment_360970 I have found them (or a close substitute) at Lowes. Look in the fastener drawers near where the packaged fasteners are located. It is also where you get keys cut. July 16, 201113 yr comment_361693 Darom, I'll get some pics and dimensions as soon as I get some more, I seem to have misplaced a whole bag them someplace in all my loose parts. I'll probably find them as soon as I don't need them!
