Zedyone_kenobi Posted July 12, 2011 Share #1 Posted July 12, 2011 Just took my 3 year old to see his first movie in the theaters. IT was CARS 2. Not going to comment much on the movie, but I counted NO LESS than 3 maybe 4 240Z'sin that movie. Seems the folks at Pixar like us.
sblake01 Posted July 12, 2011 Share #2 Posted July 12, 2011 The gong appeared to be patterned after a 240Z hubcap also.
Zedyone_kenobi Posted July 12, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted July 12, 2011 now that you mention it!
tlorber Posted July 12, 2011 Share #4 Posted July 12, 2011 My family went to see the movie without me. I have a fondness for the franchise because Cars was the first movie I took my son to. The Incredibles, which I believe was also Pixar, had a number of Datsun Roadsters in it, so somebody over there definitely likes Datsuns. Does anyone have a still shot of a Z from the movie that they can post?
Zedyone_kenobi Posted July 12, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted July 12, 2011 not yet, but in 3 months this thread should have those shots.
sblake01 Posted July 12, 2011 Share #6 Posted July 12, 2011 (edited) kjohnson2444 posted this pic in another thread showing the characters paying homage to Paul Newman, who played the voice of Doc Hudson in the first Cars movie. They were at the Doc Hudson museum. Edited July 12, 2011 by sblake01
Zedyone_kenobi Posted July 13, 2011 Author Share #7 Posted July 13, 2011 Why is the 240 look like he is squinting? All the other cars are wide eyed. I wonder what the animators are getting at. they seldom do anything by accident.
twsutt Posted July 15, 2011 Share #8 Posted July 15, 2011 There's also a silver Z in that picture - upper right corner...
Mike Posted July 15, 2011 Share #9 Posted July 15, 2011 I also took my son to CARS2. He's two years old, saw one of the cars, and said, "Z-car-oh" ! Sure enough, the movie was full of them... I remember seeing the gong and it looked a lot like the hubcap with a different logo in the middle. There were a number of spots where I could swear I saw a Z, blue, orange, silver, and perhaps a yellow in there. Some of the scenes were too quick and I didn't have the remote to control the movie.. zKars Posted July 15, 2011 Share #11 Posted July 15, 2011 Makes me want one of those stick-on sun visor strips that Arne had made a while ago, but an extra long one, with Squinty eyes on it rather than "240Z" or "DATSUN"!! And a smiley mouth mask for the rad opening/valance too!Pixar is working its marketing magic on me apparently.... MUST GO BUY 'CARS' merchandise NOW......
