Hey guys,

I'm new here....lets see....hmmm....I'm thinking of purchasing a 240z, but I'm completely new to them. I used to own a '93 RX-7 Twin Turbo, but had to sell it because I could no longer afford to maintain it....damn, those things are expensive. Anyways, I was wondering whether anyone can direct me to a link or post that answers all the questions a newbie might have....such as reliability, cost of maintenance, and the different models and etc.....thanks alot. Oh, by the way, I'm looking for a 240z in SoCal...I have around $3500 Thanks!!:geek::D

Hi Redline,

Use the search function at the top of the page. If you can't find the answer to your question then start a new thread.

i heard the rx-7's had a lot of problems with the head gasket...mainly going boom. anyway, with 3500, you'll find that there are plenty of z cars that need a good home. i myself am still looking for a good one, but it's hard to get money when you're senior in highschool and work a part-time job. anyway, so cal is a great place to get a z, i doubt that you have to worry about rust, but always good to do a check. i think this'll help you out (although i think i might end up regretting it as i might lose the car that i want) http://autos.recycler.com type, datsun 240z and set it to all area codes and press go. that should be a good start. happy hunting.

Senor RedLine,

Questions? This place has the answers. And a pretty good crowd of folks to associate with.

You can read about the different models and a buyers guide at

http://www.zhome.com

Since this is the 240z.org site, we're hoping you select a 70 ~ 72 240Z, But any Z is a Z to us.

Start your search in the Collector Car Auto Trader.

http://www.collectorcartraderonline.com/index.html

Also, look through the ads on,

http://www.recycler.com/

If you find a car in the N.W. Los Angeles, Glendale, Burbank, Pasedena area, Give me an email and I might help you check it out.

I heard that RX-7's had problems with the head completely missing...

Sorry, couldn't help myself....ROFL ROFL ROFL

(christ0ph, the RX-7 has a rotary motor - it has no 'head' as such)

Redline, you should have no problems finding a car or info if you're in SoCal.

Are you new to Classic Zcar or new to LA? If you're new to LA and haven't joined GroupZ, join! They're a great group and can provide a wealth of advice in looking for a Z...a few members may have one for sale!

In March I relocated to Jacksonville, FL, from SoCal and miss the club very much. I only just found a local (Gainesville) club with about 30 members (and growing!) I was getting worried as I had only seen ONE 1st gen Z since I arrived!

You are in probably the location with the largest concentration of Z's in the world. Enjoy it!
