austinnelson117 Posted July 17, 2011 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2011 I am looking at buying a 1970 240z but it seems to be just above my price range. The owner has offered to throw in a bunch of miscellaneous parts for an extra $300 but since it is already at the tip of my price range i am a little hesitant. The parts included are an l26 engine block, 3 four speed trannys, an extra set of SU carbs as well as a set of 260 carbs and some half axles in addition to a bunch of little things (badges, electronics, etc.) My question is, how much is all this stuff worth and how hard would it be to sell? If I can sell it and make a decent profit it would bring the car down into my price range. Thanks in advance, Austin
Arne Posted July 17, 2011 Share #2 Posted July 17, 2011 (edited) Realistically, of the things you noted, only the spare set of SUs will have much value, or be easy to sell. And those will only be worth $75-100 at best. The L26 block is scrap metal because no one wants them even for free, and buyers for 4 speed transmissions are hard to come by. The rest is all nickel and dime stuff at best. $300 is not a good price for that stuff unless there is something in the lot that you need. SteveJ Posted December 29, 2011 Share #5 Posted December 29, 2011 Austin, if you do take him up on the offer for extra parts, I'll pay shipping costs for you to send me the 260Z carbs.
Oiluj Posted December 30, 2011 Share #6 Posted December 30, 2011 The heads have some value if they are in good condition.
z boy mn Posted December 30, 2011 Share #7 Posted December 30, 2011 Hey SteveJ, I'm not sure the 260 head has carbs...and actually...I'm guessing heads are not interchangable, true? So, I better figure out which heads they are as well. Maybe I could pay him for the car...and pay him to keep the parts!
SteveJ Posted December 30, 2011 Share #8 Posted December 30, 2011 Adam, here is a good reference for the heads: Datsun Z Garage.

They are off of my late 73 240, I believe they are the same as the 260 carbs, I have the complete intake and stock exhaust manifolds as well. PM me if you want them.
