December 27, 200222 yr comment_21630 Does anyone have a picture as I'm not quite sure what these are.If you are referring to a mesh stone cover grill I think there are some aftermarket ones, reasonably priced that are available. December 27, 200222 yr comment_21636 240z what I believe he's referring to is instead of having a rubber seal around the headlight cover it's a chrome one I do have a picture somewhere it's the ZG had them I think. I'll include a picture I just found one :classic: Ok and my question is where do you get them for the ZG headlight covers?????? December 27, 200222 yr comment_21640 He's looking for the 63900-E4126 and 63901-E4126 which are the "short" type headlamp covers for the "normal" S30-series Z ( not the ZG type - which are much longer and won't fit ). Yes - those are the ones in the photo of EricB's car that Gav just put up. They are very difficult to track down now. Nissan have not made any for quite a while ( although when they have enough Japanese orders they quite often make a batch ) - so they are all but unobtainable until suddenly some get released and the prices bounce around all over the place. There are quite a few in the hands of Z specialists in Japan. I have a couple of sets myself, but I'm sitting on them for posterity. One set is going on my "project" car. You will find a lot of other people are looking for them too, and the prices for sets that DO come up for sale soon go sky high. To be honest ( even though I love them ) they are really bad quality. The shiny bit is made from Stainless ( its just a bit of formed channel ) and the "glass" is acrylic. There is a rubber seal between the acrylic and the headlamp scoop, but all sorts of stuff soon gets in there, as it blows up around the headlamp. They soon get dusty and full of insects, and when it rains they tend to mist up too. This would be OK if it was easy to get them off - but the fixing arrangement is prehistoric and very prone to strip off the car. Have I put you off them yet? Like I said, I love 'em...................... Alan T. December 27, 200222 yr comment_21641 I bought a set of the headlight covers you are describing from www.nismoparts.com last summer. They are changing their web-site around and you might have to e-mail them to see if they are still available. Be ready to expect a price in the 150 each range, I'd have to look to see what I paid for mine but they weren't cheap..... December 27, 200222 yr comment_21644 Yep I've had Alan's experiences with Headlight covers and personally I hate them. I used to have them on my 260z I've inluded a picture they were tinted and looked great as you can probably see for yourself but the dirt and crap that built up inside them was not worth the hassle besides side on you couldn't see the distinctive sugar scoop headlight buckets. I love that look personally and with the gnose those sugar scoops look even better. The headlight covers take away some of the cars style in my opinion sure it makes it more stream lined but who likes a completely smooth car not me I luv old skool muscle cars. Such as a 72 Vette convertable Anyway I'm getting off track cause I luv Z's more. This post was also about those chrome things but yeah there nothing but a hassle and if Alan is correct about their quality than don't bother wasting your time. Also maybe you can get something like this made up. The Old Ferrari GTO's had the same thing and I think maybe E-Type Jags. Sure their is an alternative to the factory option. December 27, 200222 yr comment_21661 This is a picture of my car:http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=2599&papass=&sort=1&thecat=500I believe these are the ones you are referring to.When I set out to purchase these, I tried Courtesy Nissan, Too Intense Restoration, The Datsun Dude, MotorSport and none of them had them in stock, nor were they expecting any. Apparently they'd had them on back-order for a while and had not yet heard.I finally obtained my set through Zedd Findings, Charlie Osborne who in turn got them from Japan through MSA in California. When I contacted him regarding getting replacement lenses (due to a small crack in one, my fault) he told me that the ones I'd received along with a couple other sets were the last ones he was able to get and that they were NLA.Maybe Kats can investigate and let us know if they are or are not available in Japan.2¢ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4023-chrome-band-headlight-covers/#findComment-21661 Share on other sites
December 28, 200222 yr comment_21684 I saw a set on yahoo auctions Japan last night, they had a crack about 1/4 inch long in the left lense cover but other than they looked fine. Problem how do you bid an item when you cant read the information, if you can overcome that hurdle these normal sized (fit HLS30) chrome surround covers are still in existences if not factory new.good luck Steve:classic: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4023-chrome-band-headlight-covers/#findComment-21684 Share on other sites
