I've been hosting a yearly Meet 'n Greet for HybridZ, one of my favorite forums I frequent and I'd love to invite you guys here to join the fun. HybridZ is full of Hot Rodders/Custom Fabricators/Dreamers that stand by the rule that "there is no best". We drive Datsuns with everything from turbo Japanese 4 cylinders to Mopar big blocks! It doesn't matter the brand or the look of something, if it's done in the name of speed, we like it.

Every year I strive to enlarge the circle of community at this event because when it comes down to it, a car guy is a car guy and we all get along and like to have some fun. So I hope you can make it out, even if your car isn't "finished", because most of us are driving a work in progress as well. :-D

So I'm moving the event this year to the summit of Mt. Diablo, in the city of Clayton, though most of you will know better where it is when I say it's right next to Concord.

Another change is that I'm opening up the possibility this year to have it on a Sunday! I know some people simply can't make it out on Saturdays, so I'm letting you vote. Just post your preference if you have one. The optional dates are September 3rd or 4th. Let us know your preference soon so we can set the date in stone.

As always the rules are simple. Be into what we're about around here (hot rodding cars for performance with little to no regard of brand loyalty) and you're invited. It doesn't matter if you're driving a Honda wagon or a t-bucket rat rod (or a go cart with plates). Keep it civil with no public displays of stupid and we'll have a great time. The only drawback this year, is being at Mt. D we can't bring alcohol as it's strictly forbidden. Parking/Gate fee should be the same iirc, which is $5. Also don't forget $5 to help cover food. I'll be taking care of as much as possible bringing hot dogs, hamburgers, and fixin's for both; but as always feel free to bring some grub to share, and a good drink variety is always welcomed.

Here's something to wet your appetite. I don't have full details yet, but I'm trying to prepare some prizes for some "unique" categories. My goal is to be in the same vein as the LeMons races and have semi-ridiculous prizes for random things, like "furthest drive" or "geekiest mod". Obviously prizes won't be extravagant, but hopefully it will bring some character to our annual little get together.

Well that's most of the details out of the way, so now let me share why I've moved the meet.

The drive up Mt Diablo is a great drive, plus there's the added benefit of it still being a very central place to meet for most of us. Most of you would be HARD PRESSED to be unable to get a clear visible shot of Mt D less than 5 miles from your house. Mt D is visible from Napa, Sac, San Jose, Stockton, SF, etc. Though some of us will travel farther than others, most of us should be able to point towards home from the summit and we can all get a visual of where we all come from, which I thought would be fun.

So I hope you join us, and I hope you bring someone along.

PS Here's a fun little tidbit. So the above poster I made uses a photo I took of a sweet ride while at Infineon Raceway last year. Looking through the photos again I just noticed that the very next car over, you can actually see Mt. D in the background! How ironic after all that photoshopping I just did... That's a solid 45+ minute drive from that race track to the base of Mt. D btw.

Sounds fun! Was thinking of going to this last year but missed out.

Sunday would be best =)

Can you bring both cars? The exige is easily on my top 3 current production vehicles. But at the same time, quality L powered S30's are usually in short supply at hybridZ meets, and are equally cool in my book.

Just a reminder for everyone about the meet coming up. As it stands right now we've got a solid 25+car attendance, which means we can expect as many as 40 to show up.

Just as a reminder, try to be there by 11am or so to make sure you get your food and a good parking spot. Bring $10 for the gate and $5 for your food. No alcohol (park rules) and no showboating (my rules). Bring a friend and have a great time.
