bought some bumpers from a 71 production 240. went to install onto a 73 but looks like mounts are different.

after some research I,ve learned about the introduction in 73 of 2.5km/hr bumpers that sit out from body a little further than previous years.

just wanted to locate any helpful info, or possibly a fiche or image of the two different set-ups, so i can figure out a good retro method to get these bumpers mounted. any help would be great, thanks.

For the US market, the mounts are different. I wouldn't be surprised if the Canadian market cars received the same mounts as the US cars. I know that MSA has carbon fiber replacement bumpers for the 240Zs and says that 73s require additional work.

I suggest doing a search with words like bumper mount conversion 240Z.

Correct. The mounts on the bumper and the bumper brackets are different. 73 front bumper brackets are quite a bit heavier/stronger than the 70-72 versions.

If you have a 70-72 bumper - just use the 70-72 bumper brackets. If you want to keep the stock 73 look - then you'll need to get a 73 bumper as it mounts to the 73 brackets in a different manor.

FWIW,

Carl B.
