August 10, 201113 yr Author comment_363723 What's the best tool to buy to test vacuum and fuel pressure? Also, where do you tap into the fuel rail? August 10, 201113 yr comment_363724 I got a T and measured between the fuel filter and the fuel rail.Equus / Innova Brand are the common man's low cost choice. Most autoshops have these gauges. Even some walmarts.http://www.walmart.com/ip/Equus-3620-Innova-Vacuum-Gauge/14644669http://www.walmart.com/ip/Equus-3640-Innova-Professional-Fuel-Injection-Pressure-Tester/14644670 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40422-running-rough-then-stalls/?&page=3#findComment-363724 Share on other sites
August 12, 201113 yr Author comment_363884 Tested the vacuum and it's 13 HG at idle. I'm thinking this is way too low. Going to look and see what it should be Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40422-running-rough-then-stalls/?&page=3#findComment-363884 Share on other sites

August 12, 201113 yr comment_363890 So are you now thinking you have a manifold leak? Use a propane torch, do not light the fire, start the car and slowley fog the intake with the gas while noting any spots that change the rpm. August 12, 201113 yr Author comment_363896 I have replaced every vacuum line and no change. Will carb cleaner work the same? Don't have a good torch handy. August 12, 201113 yr comment_363900 There are lots of things people use, carb cleaner, WD40 and the like. I like the propane and map gas because I dont have to hose my motor down with liquids, most flamable at that. Torches are cheap and very usefull tools. August 12, 201113 yr Author comment_363902 Also I found a ground wire that screws to a bolt on the distributor under the cap. It has a bullet connector on it and is black. Where does it attach? August 12, 201113 yr Author comment_363910 No change. No leak. I tried moving the AFM door in and out and there was no perceptible change in rpm. Is that right?
