hello , can anyone tell me: are the hydraulic strut from the

rearsuspension from 240z and 260z the same????

I'm not sure what you got for the 260 in your country, in the US we had two distinctly different models of 260's.

If the 260 has thin bumpers and carbs like the 240's then yes they should be the same.

If it has the larger bumpers like the 280's we had in the US then they are more than likely different. The us spec 74 1/2 model had longer and larger diameter strut housings that were continued into the 75-78 series. I believe all the 260 2+2's were the larger, longer struts as well.

Best bet is to measure the outside diameter of the strut housing, if it is the same diameter as the 240 they should be the same.

In Holland two types from koni are avaiable:

the normal (the red ones) for 240z

rear type 86-1812 and front 86-1811

but also available 260/280 z now I see these are the wrong ones

rear type 8641-1034 (the yellow ones) means sport seems

better but now I understand these don't fit .

The ID of the strut housing on the 240 versus the 280 is about 2/10" different (somewhere there abouts), so yes they will not work.

Various other struts have been used on the 240 that "fit", but most if not all of them require sectioning the strut housing, which means lowering the car as well.

I have 74 260z with big bumpers. It has been in Florida before it was shipped here to Finland in 1980.

Are the front springs and shocks different from 240 too?

If I would order a suspension kit for my car should I order according to 280z model specs? I have been thinking about tokico kit.

We dont have tokicos here so I would have to order it from USA or maybe try to find some supplier inside EU. (Tax and customs are added if I order outside EU)

On US spec 240Z's the two front springs are of different lengths. I don't have my books with me right now and can't remember (a senior moment!) which (R or L) is the longer. On the 260/280Z something was changed in the suspension (I don't know what), but the lengths of the two front springs was equalized to be the same on R and L sides of the car. I believe that the Strut inserts (shocks as you say)are also different from 240Z to 260/280 style of suspension.

Not that it is my consern but why in earth did us spec 240 z have different lenght struts? Some US safety law/regulation?

I must read my Haynes manual about this? Santa Claus has brought me one=)

I understood that hpk is a replacement kit and is like original and illumina is adjustable...

I'm not sure why they are different lengths. I've been told (not sure how true) that it had to do with the idea that the engine is not mounted exactly on centerline of car, and that the factory expectation was that the car would mostly be driven with just he driver inside and this different length spring set-up would keep the car level on the suspension. Sounds kind of strange to me, but that is what was mentioned on the IZCC list a while back (several years ago by now)
