Posted August 11, 201113 yr comment_363802 Hi, everyone. I'm Darkwolf and I'm looking to buy a 240z and build it as my project car because I'm addicted to them. I'm young but I do love the Z.Ive got about 800$ saved to buy a Z and well im waiting to find the One and save up a bit more for it. Im hoping to buy a Z by the end of this year, a December of '69 manufactured Z would be my dream but im ok with the 1970-3 models aswell.Ill post more about myself when I get back from lunch Edited August 11, 201113 yr by Darkwolf Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40459-new-to-the-club/ Share on other sites
August 11, 201113 yr comment_363805 Welcome to the Group! Good luck with your search. You may have to save a bit more before buying and don't forget to budget for the parts and services the Z will no doubt need once you find it. Keep us posted on your progress.Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40459-new-to-the-club/#findComment-363805 Share on other sites
August 12, 201113 yr comment_363821 Welcome to the Datsun addiction Darkwolf. I am also new to the group, but old to the Datsun addiction. Save your money, and buy the best car you can afford. Restoration (or even resurrection to driving condition) is very expensive, but can be very rewarding. I have been driving, restoring, fixing, vintage Datsun's for 30 years, and if I could, I would do nothing but tinker with the old cars. Making a living can put such a damper on a guys time, but it provides the necessary funds! Have fun in the search. Enjoy the ride!Andy K Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40459-new-to-the-club/#findComment-363821 Share on other sites
August 12, 201113 yr Author comment_363849 Thanks guys for the warm welcome, I am trying but with everything as it is. Work is hard to find but I made 100$ in two days so the Z fund is slowly going up. I just need to be patient. I'm hopeful to find that December manufactured Z because my birthday is in December and it would be nice as a sentimental thing Edited August 12, 201113 yr by Darkwolf Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40459-new-to-the-club/#findComment-363849 Share on other sites

August 13, 201113 yr comment_363932 Keep it stock, invest in tools, tune it and learn how it works first. Optimizing SU carbs, adjusting valves, refreshing suspension, drive train, steering and interior and tending to problems as well as reading should keep you busy for a while and give you time to digest what you bought and where you want to go. Seems like a great start to a project, what does everyone think about it. I may go look at it this weekend. I have alot of tools because my father owns a do it all shop for cars and off-road vehicles. so I have alot of different tools i can use if needed. Ive started my reaserch but there are things to the Z when i get one i am going to change. Most of it is suspension and body but the motor will be done one thing at a time. The suspension and body are first priority The Z Edited August 13, 201113 yr by Darkwolf Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40459-new-to-the-club/#findComment-363945 Share on other sites
August 13, 201113 yr comment_363953 If she doesn't run I believe I would start with the engine - then the brakes - suspension and finally the body. This could be a very expensive venture for you. You really may want to create a shopping list from some of the vendors and see what kind of a budget you would need. It really may be cheaper to save a little more money and buy a car that runs from the beginning. I am speaking from experience, Datsun parts and pieces are not cheap.Best of luck and I will be watching your progress! August 13, 201113 yr comment_363955 It looks like the 72 has potential. White interior?Have a look under it for rust in the rails under the seats and where they rise behind the front wheels. If your dad has a shop, go for it. A $900 72 is a good investment. August 13, 201113 yr Author comment_363983 Well I'm going to call on it today and hopefully go look at it sometime this weekend. I'm pretty excited about it. August 14, 201113 yr Author comment_364025 Im not quite sure how to edit my posts but bad news, that Z has been bought about 2-3 months ago the guy just never removed it from craigslist. So my search restarts yet again Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40459-new-to-the-club/#findComment-364025 Share on other sites
