Posted August 12, 201113 yr comment_363866 I've looked at the diagrams showing what each part is for the Z's but I cannot find what this little pipe is. As you can see in the picture it pretty rusted, and what you can't see is on the other side it's actually crushed in.. Anyhow this definitely needs replacing! Edit: this is the thermostat housing if it isn't obvious sorry. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40468-what-is-this-part/ Share on other sites
August 12, 201113 yr comment_363869 Based on this drawing I think it is # 29. Be sure to look at the L24 version.http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsunS30/DatsunFairladyZIndex/Engine240Z260Z/Manifold/FromJul72/tabid/1568/Default.aspxJohn Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40468-what-is-this-part/#findComment-363869 Share on other sites
August 12, 201113 yr comment_363870 For later FI cars it is the return from the heating base under fast idle device. For carbs it is the return from the carb heating system. August 12, 201113 yr comment_363911 This looks very basic.Unscrew the whole fitting and get someone to braze a new piece of pipe on. Or do it yourself if you can. Or go to a hardware/ plumbing store and buy a 90 degree brass bend and some reducers to get down to the right size. August 13, 201113 yr comment_363935 You can try to get one w/o the 90 degree and run the hose along a different path. Since you are in Arizona, you do not need an AAR or the heater below it or the cold start valve so you can unclutter the top of your intake manifold. August 16, 201113 yr comment_364162 +1 to what Blue said. Just plug it off and remove the other stuff for a much cleaner look on the intake. Plus far fewer places for a water leak & rotten hosery. Now, if you lived in Fargo..... Len Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40468-what-is-this-part/#findComment-364162 Share on other sites
August 19, 201113 yr Author comment_364358 That sounds fantastic to me, the less the clutter the better! However what is an AAR?I'll probably get a replacement for it, and then get the same thing but with a sealed end so it has a nice clean seal.
