I had a similar issue when I received mine although I was running on a PC, not a MAC.

As I recall it was an issue with Adobe reader. You need to go into the Adobe reader app, go to preferences and find the "internet" option.

Unclick the box that says "display PDF in browser".

I believe that's what I did to get mine to work.

Let me know if you still have issues.

Mike.

Well, I have tried everything. I downloaded Netscape Navigator and followed the directions. I get to the start here screen and when I click on the button it gives me an error saying it can't find the file:

/Volumes/ZCARCD/zcd/baseq3/pak/yoda/S30_1a.pdf?B1=Click+Here+to+Open+the+Microfiche.

That is as far as it will let me go. Any more suggestions? I am getting frustrated with this cd. :(

I'm not familiar with the disk browsing format on a Mac, so with that said here's a fix that works regardless of whether you are using IE or FIREFOX or Netscape.

Open the CD for file browing and open the following file folders as they become available:

From the root of the CD:

ZCD;

BASEQ3

PAK

YODA

Once there you will have a list of files and one folder.

The "_VTI_CNF" directory can be ignored.

It is the files:

INDEX.TXT

S30_1a.pdf

through

S30_8b.pdf

That you want. You can copy those to a folder of your choosing on your hard drive.

The .txt file give you information as to what file contains what section of the parts manual. Alternatively you can dive right in into the *1a.pdf file and the navigation links within the associated pdf files will begin to work.

It cost money to develop that CD, and it is the return on that investment that is helping pay for this website and the club's monthly bills. The club has written authorization to use and copy that microfiche and to distribute it as we are doing. Other "free" sites are just presuming that if they don't get sued, then it must be "ok". Please don't advise others to not buy our CD. Technology has changed in the 10+ years since it was originally issued, some of these work-arounds are necessary because of that.

I do use a Mac with the CD, and it is quite simple.

First, it works best opened directly in Adobe Reader, not Preview or any browser.

You don't need the INDEX.TXT file, just the PDFs. Make a folder somewhere in your Documents folder and copy the PDFs into it as shown.

Open the Package by opening S30_1a.pdf in Adobe Reader. You can make an alias to the file if you wish.

Hey guys, just checked out this thread. Yes, the CD is still available. Unfortunately we have some issues with the newest models of Macbook without doing a little tweaking like Arne suggested.

As far as ordering a disk, send me a PM and we'll work out the details.

Mike
