hello, ive been wanting to pick up a 240z as a project for the longest time, and i found this car at a junk yard. it needs a lot of work but the body looks pretty good other than the driver side rear quarter panel. i dont have great pictures but can this be repaired and if so, how can it be done and how much would it cost.

The rear quarter can probably be pulled/pounded out without too much effort or expense. I think I'd be a little more concerned about the sprung rear hatch. Getting that to fit and close properly might be a bigger task if the hinges and hinge mount points are bent. The hatch, itself, may be a candidate for replacement rather than repair.

Thanks for the quick reply, that's good news. As far as the hatch goes, it will be replaced. I'm just not sure if I should go with a fiberglass piece or a factory piece

Yes that is repairable but check for rust. to pull out the dents I would weld a block on it and use a slide hammer, a little hammer and dolly work and heat shrinking. It should be fine. or you could cut out and weld in a strait piece but I think straiting the original would work out better.

can you close the back hatch to see if the gaps around the hatch are ok?

this is a way you make sure the back half of the car is square.

It looks a little ruff for a original restoration what it your intent if you got the car

well my plan is to drop my sc ls6 into it and use it for daily/track duty. the car is going for $500, i might be able to get it a little cheaper.

That would be a good one if it isn't rusted. In 72 they did some improvements to the rear that will help you in getting it setup over a 70-71 Z. From what I hear it is easier to swap a 240SX limited slip rear in also
