dohc Posted January 6, 2003 Share #15 Posted January 6, 2003 Wasn't me Z kid! I'm still looking for a good 240 shell, most I've looked at have been either too expensive or too far gone and only useful for parts. Are there any other cars out there for under $3k? I'm looking to do it up to race, so an engine/trans isn't important but the body is.Thanks,Ross.Oh, and I'm interested in that shell TRS if Z Kid finds something else, just PM me. Ta. The bloody thing is pretty far but if you are really interested I could possibly go and take pictures of it this weekend.
Z Kid Posted January 7, 2003 Author Share #18 Posted January 7, 2003 Not Ross, but close enough, 3k's probably a tad out of my price range at the moment, but what is your definition of shell, as many people have varied definitions, ie is it a car without a motor & transmission, or just a bare shell? Is this a private seller, or one of the local Z car mobs?
trs Posted January 7, 2003 Share #19 Posted January 7, 2003 Well the deal on the new Z doesnt seem to be going too well...So i may be interested in this 3k shell in sydney if Zkid doesnt go for it..sounds pretty expensive for a shell!

Just a shell, no driveline, no interior (as far as I remember). It's from one of the local Z guys so it's not a private sale as such.trs, yes it does sound expensive but if it's in the condition that he described it to me it's well worth it in my opinion. Z Kid Posted January 7, 2003 Author Share #21 Posted January 7, 2003 For a bare shell, that's way more than what I'm willing to pay for it, but i guess the guy has to make a living some way. I'm not so worried about the rust in a shell, just the straightness of it. A few days playing with a welder is going to cost me a lot less than 3k. trs Posted January 7, 2003 Share #22 Posted January 7, 2003 Ozzy Guy, could you PM me the details about the shell? What state is it in at the moment.. i.e primer, paint? for 3k id be expecting seam welding everywhere, 20 point rollcage and one of those racing girls who wipes down your helmet visor... dohc Posted January 9, 2003 Share #23 Posted January 9, 2003 Hey That Ozzy Guy,Thanks for the response to our plea for a decent Zed. $3k in Sydney is stretching the budget (once freight and transferring rego is brought in). I'm assuming it's out of rego etc?Anyway, if you could post more details or email me with further details that would be great.I've got a lead on a car locally for a similar price so a bit hesitant to jump at one interstate....Do you know any numbers on this one? is it an early build? Does it have any history?Cheers,Ross.
trs Posted January 10, 2003 Share #24 Posted January 10, 2003 I spoke to the business that owns the 3k shell and managed to get these details: * rolling stripped bare shell * still in original orange paint * no apparent accident damage, straight panels, no apparent rust except in tailgate (2 spots) *"$3000 not a cent less" * They dont care if they dont sell it, because they wish to restore it themselves translation: i dont think they want to sell the shell.
