Hey all, so glad I found this site. Well after years of putting it off, I found a 1973 240z!! its sat for ten years so im in the process of tearing it down now to evaluate the damage by rust. the floorboards were cut out and replaced already. the glass and stainless are in great shape, and the body is rotted or rotting in the normal "rot" areas. need new rear inner fenders . rear fenders, rockers, and possibly a drivers side door and passenger side fender.. im just hoping nothing else (frame wise is shot) anything I should check asap to make sure i should attempt to rebuild this? this is my 1st ever rebuild. I love these cars and have always wanted one. anyone in columbus? well I hope to get to know some of ya real soon. mike

Also the motor turns over but doesnt run.(bad fuel pump?) the clutch pedal will not go in at all (bad slave cylinder?) parking brake is shot. also it has the domed carbs on it with a black adjustment srew on top. and im assuming its a "3 screw" carb because its held into place with three screws. just making sure as 73 mid year is where things started changing. and lastly the front bumper looks right for the year. but it doesnt match up with the bumper mounts. ill be uploading some pics here soon. thanks

Good luck with the car.

Your description reminded me of a sign I once saw for a missing dog. It said something like "Missing...white/black mix, has only 3 legs, one eye is gone, left ear torn. Answers to 'Lucky'. Please call if you find him."

grretc, i may be interested. hows the uni body? may want the whole thing, ask, and let me know. i got the front fenders off today, and the wheel well is rotted threw right around the base of the motor mount? is that a common area of rot? its on both sides. and to be honest its kinda scary. I was hoping for only "body" rot. can you replace unibody pieces? the "fin" that the air duct runs in is pretty brittle too where it comes to a point. im gonna jump into the body portion of the forum and see what i can find. but will continue to strip the car down to the bare bones, and see whats what.

Mike,

Welcome to the wonderful world of Z cars in Ohio. You will want to join ZROC (www.zroc.org). There are a lot of great knowledgeable people who are willing to help. I've seen the photos in your other post. You're right, it looks scary, and you may want to try to locate another complete body. If you are able to do the work yourself, you have yourself a project. If you do not have that set of skills, tools and determination, you will spend a fortune having someone else fix it. You could be better served by looking for a solid car for sale in California where they are in much better shape and actually cheaper! I just got my car back after 6 months in a body shop and it was not as bad as yours. For what I paid, I could have bought a pretty nice California car and had it shipped to Ohio.
