Wire ID

I am getting the final preparations to putting the dash back in my car and have found a set of wires I cannot identify. I have a color wiring diagram and I cannot find it among all the other wires? It appears to be a source of power but I am not sure for what. The wires are red with a blue stripe. Thanks!

Where in the dash harness did you find the wires? What other connectors are nearby? Location can help narrow down function.

Edit: By the way, a quick look at the 71 wiring diagram tells me that instrument lighting is the purpose.

My HLS30 00907 has a red wire and a red with blue striped wire taped together in the same short harness that connect to the rear window defroster. I started labeling wires as I identify them. Seems only right since my job sometimes involves wiring. I have only the barest clue if they are connected to what you are looking at. I had to buy a wire tracer to figure out some of my wiring the PO changed.

So I have to bring this one up again. I found my second, old, wiring harness and it agrees with what Arne and Steve thought. I had labelled it years ago as belonging to the rheostat. It would make sense as the red with blue stripe wires seem to be part of the "power". The problem that I have is that the color wiring diagram that I purchased years ago, shows the rheostat taking a green with white stripe, and a red with blue stripe. If the diagram isn't correct, what do these wires go to? My old harness doesn't have these two wires. I was hoping I would have labelled these as well but no luck.
