JLPurcell Posted September 11, 2011 Share #1 Posted September 11, 2011 My son is interested in buying a 60's Datsun Patrol. Anyone have any insight? What to look for, what to avoid. Experience with this vehicle? Thanks JLP
zed2 Posted September 11, 2011 Share #2 Posted September 11, 2011 Nissan Patrols were imported from 1960 - 1969, designated as L60 (hardtop) and KL60 (soft top). US parts are scarce. Some parts still available via Australia (where it was designated G60). Buy the best, most complete one you can find.Keith

It is rough but for the most part solid and most everything is there. I see that you own one, what do you think about this as a project? Thanks for your opinion! zed2 Posted September 11, 2011 Share #4 Posted September 11, 2011 Can the Patrol move under its own power?Any photos of the dash, front seats and rear? Not original split wheels.Front bumper cut.Front indicator lens are difficult to find.Missing driver's mirrorMissing air inlet hose from radiator support to blower motor.I believe the "Datsun" badge on hood should be "Nissan"Hopefully hood is repairable (replacement hoods are scarce).Let me know how the purchase progresses. (If it is in the Dallas, TX area I'd be happy to look at it for you.)Keith

zed2 Posted September 11, 2011 Share #6 Posted September 11, 2011 Driver & passenger seats missingTow bar (and cut bumper) would indicate that Patrol was used for dingy towing. Odometer would not miles added in this mode.Scissor jack not original, bottle jack was standard issuePull out ash tray not in dashPlastic floor cover missingThis could be a great project. The key is getting the motor running. Parts for the “P” motor are somewhat interchangeable with the Nissan ”P40” forklift motor.Driver & passenger seats missingTow bar (and cut bumper) would indicate that Patrol was used for dingy towing. Montezuma Posted September 11, 2011 Share #7 Posted September 11, 2011 Les has some Patrol parts and a partially complete vehicle there at the shop. He might be able to give you some direction.

He might be able to give you some direction. I did contact Les, his advice "stay away":finger: unless you find one which needs nothing! He said that parts are near impossible. But my son is still interested. jlp

My son did not find it in time to see if he could arrange transport so he did not bid on it. The winning bidder did not follow through so it has been offered to my son.JLP

Montezuma Posted September 12, 2011 Share #12 Posted September 12, 2011 Maybe your son can do a custom job on it. Did Les say anything about the Patrol he has there.
