Posted September 15, 201113 yr comment_366459 I'm getting close to having the body and paint work done on my car, which is a late '73 240. The original color was 306 silver, though the existing color is quite a bit darker.I'd like to get back closer to the original, but with a little more metal flake in it for the depth. Any one have recommendations of colors you have used? Thanks. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40782-silver-paint-recommendation/ Share on other sites
September 15, 201113 yr comment_366460 I'm in the process of getting my Roadster back on the road and am planning on using the same silver (the BMW name is Titanium) that is on my 2001 BMW 740. The color is gorgeous. I get lots of compliments. It has as very slight blue cast to it which makes it a cool rather than a warm silver. If I was ready to do one of my Z's I'd consider it for sure. September 15, 201113 yr comment_366468 I like the lighter tints of silver similar to those typically on Merc's. September 15, 201113 yr comment_366474 Go for Two Stage #306, but have the painter topcoat it with pearl with additional flake. You might also consider a 'Ghost' stripe or flames that are not immediately apparent 'till the sun hits it just right. From my experience, modern paint chemistry is far more superior to what was originally used by Nissan, so what ever you end up with, it will have depth that will knock you out. September 16, 201113 yr comment_366656 Cool color. Does it have pearl in it?No. It actually has less metallic than the Mercedes silver and a darker tone.Dean Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40782-silver-paint-recommendation/#findComment-366656 Share on other sites
