Posted September 16, 201113 yr comment_366591 Has anyone had trouble with the Prothane bushing set sold at Black dragon? I cant get a fit on the steering rack, steering couple bushing, and a few others I havent opened the others because im considering going back to rubber. September 16, 201113 yr comment_366615 It takes some persuasion to get them on. Don't put rubber back on the steering rack! Everywhere else it's OK but the rack on the Z cars needs to be pinned down with a stiffer material than rubber. September 16, 201113 yr comment_366640 I just completed a full resto which included going with the complete MSA urethane bushing kit and Tokico HP shocks. If I had it to do over again, I would not do the bushing kit. The resulting ride for a street car is just too durn harsh. I completely agree with Dave on the steering rack - this is a MUST fix.Jim Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40795-prothane-kit/#findComment-366640 Share on other sites

September 16, 201113 yr comment_366654 One thing I forgot - a generous coating of heavy grease on all surfaces of the rack bushings will really help ease them into place.Jim Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40795-prothane-kit/#findComment-366654 Share on other sites

September 17, 201113 yr comment_366742 We used hot water trying to get our in. It helped some. We finally had to use longer bolts to get it started. After we got it tight with the long bolts we removed the long bolts and luckily the brackets stayed on so we could put the original bolts back in. September 19, 201113 yr comment_366900 I had to put urethane bushings in my rx7, i will never do it again. To many busted knuckles, i needed a torch to get them out, and a 3ton press to get the new ones in. Suspension work is by far the worst part of a car Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40795-prothane-kit/#findComment-366900 Share on other sites

October 10, 201113 yr comment_368828 I used Prothane. I also used Anti-Seize compound mixed with the silicone supplied with the kit - I have been VERY satisfied so far. Just take your time and have a lot of shop towels to wipe your hands with.
