First Z

1971 240z just picked it up. I quickly fell in love with the classic styling of the old Z. Along with being my first Z it is also my first carbureted car. Its pretty nice and has a body kit that is ok. It is my weekend cruiser and might be looking to do a motor swap of some kind in the future not sure yet.

I know what you mean the metal bumper is a classic nice look. Finding one without rust was hard and I took what I could. Im not great with body work so I wanted one with a clean body. Now I need to figure out what to do for power.......

Toadleg,

Lot's of ways to make more power reliably with the good old L-series engine. Datsun didn't win 30-odd national championships with this engine by accident. Stay with the L-series engine. (my humble opinion)

Old Datsun Nut in Spokane, WA

( I've owned vintage Datsuns since the summer of 1980!)

I guess my 1970 Roadster I had in 1980 wasn't very vintage back then, though

It goes down the road good..... for a 1971. Im not going to use it for a race car but more power never hurts. This is by far the best looking car I own but it is also my slowest. I think a nice cam head work exhaust.... and I would be happy

currently its a..... your going to laugh... 05 dodge neon srt-4. Now that your done laughing its pretty quick ran a 12.6 on street tires. To give you guys a better idea of what I need to accomplish my dad has a 72 Triumph TR6. He keeps saying how back in the day the early Zs never had enough to beat his TR6. Have some of you guys had a hard time beating those cars? He drove mine and said I didnt have what I needed to beat him. I want to have him drive my car and openly admit he stands no chance.
