Door Glass Rubber

Mike

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to replace the rubber that fits between the glass (in the door) and the metal bracket that holds it in place.

This rubber is sandwiched between two pieces of metal and keeps the metal from touching the glass. Can I still get this stuff?

The ones on Ebay were new, but I just looked and they aren't there and I can't remember the seller's name.

If not Too Intense or Andy (check with him at z@datsundude.com), there's a guy with the username of rzola that has quite a few small rubber items on Ebay, you might try him.....:ermm:

OK, here's the guy's site, unfortunately I don't see the window squeeges, but he does have quite a few of the odd rubber pieces....

Hi Guys: One thing to keep in mind is that there are several places to buy many of these items. Nissan (if not NLA), MSA, and Victoria British to name a few.

DO YOUR RESEARCH!! Especially on prices!

I have bought some used items from Cybersanford (Bob Zola) and he's a nice guy to deal with, and seems honest enough, and I'd buy USED items from him again. But if you compare the prices for the rubber and other Z related nicknacks he puts up on eBay, well; the prices are higher that the same items at either MSA or Victoria British. The photo's of the items that he labels as "replacement" parts appear to be identical to what you get from Vic Brit. albeit at a higher price.

This post SHOULD NOT be construed as a knock on Bob Zola! He is a businessman and like all businessmen, his job is to buy at one price and sell at a higher price. How else can one run a business? (US GOVERNMENT EXCEPTED! :( :disappoin :cross-eye )

So just be knowledgable about the options that you have to purchase these types of items from several different sources.

Just an FYI

Damian,

I took a look at the pics you posted and that stuff is about the closest to original I've seen...just doesn't have the flocking on the glass side. Does your source have a catalogue or web site? I could use enough for 2 Z's!

Thanks!

In rereading this post, I think there may be some confusion as to which rubber parts / fuzzy parts are being referred to.

The rubber which Mike originally referred to is simple 1/16" thick rubber which insulates the window pane from the metal brackets which hold the rollers and other attachments to the panes themselves.

There are two "fuzzy" rubbers. One is attached to the outside chrome finisher which wipes the outside of the window pane as it rolls up and down. The other is attached to the inside door panel vinyl finisher. This is more fuzzy than rubber and it also wipes the glass as it goes up and down.

There is a last "fuzzy" piece, that's the channel rubber that fits inside the window frame that receives the window pane.

I was able to obtain all of these as NEW from Andy Russell, although I had to buy the complete inner door panel and the outside chrome piece complete. Apparently the "replacement" fuzzy rubber is not available by itself any longer from Nissan. There may be other sources out there, but Andy didn't know of them.

The window channel was easily obtained and very reasonably priced.

The flat rubber I didn't need, but I would use plain old inner tube rubber.
