September 23, 201113 yr comment_367234 Can't tell where the weld was. Mind you, this is not as clean as the eurotube, but much nicer than stock with all of the smog stuff-I left the threaded ports in and plugged with alan screws. This was a cheaper and easier option than replacing linkages and the balance tube. September 24, 201113 yr Author comment_367241 Blue, perhaps I'm just cheap, but it would be tough for me to part with $230 or so just to improve the aesthetics of the motor. I bought an extra tube for $20 and hope to have $50-$60 when done. September 29, 201113 yr Author comment_367714 Project is officially started. I have 8 stands/ports to do. I got half of them done so far and also found a guy that will let me use his welder, set up to do aluminum for $30/hour. First pic is the car, second pic is the extra tube I bought, third pic is the extra tube with a few of the features removed. October 2, 201113 yr Author comment_367973 dkw, Thanks for posting, that looks great. I've completed the prep work for welding, which I hope to do one evening next week. We'll see how my first experience at welding aluminum goes. October 6, 201113 yr Author comment_368328 I rented a welder for $30/hour and knocked out the tube. I can't say that it was the cleanest welds in the world, but I am confident that the holes are sealed. I hope to get it on the car tomorrow. October 6, 201113 yr Author comment_368414 This should wrap up this post. The before and after shot. If I were doing it again, I would smooth out the two stands, but leave the bumps in the tube and fill the hole. This would give the balance tube some personality, instead of being so smooth. I guess I'm really never satisfied Next is running the gas line under the carbs in metal. October 6, 201113 yr Author comment_368430 Hey Gary, I have a few more projects to do: rerouting gas line, fabricate an air cleaner. However, if I know I'm going back to this guy's shop (an hour drive away), I'll drop you a PM.
