I'm attempting to replace the flexible brake hoses on the front of my '70 240z. on the wheel side, I removed the clip and slid the hose out. On the body side, I have disconnected the brake line from below, slid the clip off of the mount, but the hose is held on some other way and I can't figure out how to get it off. I've thoroughly soaked it in blaster, but it won't move. Additionally, the new hose looks like it has a different type of end on it. Will it fit the old mount? Any thoughts?

It should pop out just like on the wheel side.

I think the mount is the same. Let the penetrant do it's thing overnight, if it still doesn't budge, more penetrant and wait another day. Be sure to give it a gentle whack or two with a hammer along with the penetrant. If it still doesn't budge, I'd go on to more extreme measures.

Get your hands on one of those small torches, like the crack heads use, and heat the clip that holds the hose nut in the body tab, should lift rite out.

It might be just twisted and stuck on the mounting bracket or has undercoating gluing it in place. Wire brush the accumulated crud and give it a hard wiggle and it should pop free.

But your picture does look a little odd. I have a 280 so don't know what the 240s look like, but my 280 doesn't look like that picture. It looks like there is some kind of sleeve over the end of the mounting bracket. Maybe even with a tack weld on it. Someone might have modified it so that they could tighten up the fitting. If the hose turns in the mounting bracket it can be a pain to get things tight.

Zed Head might be right about mods or maybe a 1970 differs from a 1972. First-year runs are closer to large-scale production prototypes than mass produced automobiles as they work out the kinks and lower production costs.

Also, I didn't notice the first time I replied that the hose picture is titled "BrakeLineNew." It looks like mine, but have you tried fitting it on the wheel side as a test? It's possible that the relative ease you had removing the body side fitting was due to something falling off over time, or was an improv at 50,000 miles.
