Contacted my Z's Original Owner Today

So after doing a little searching I found my Z's original owner awhile back, and decided to call him today. I have every paper and invoice he ever did to my car and all the owners between never tossed any of it. My current paint scheme and 280zx hubcaps were all done by him in 1981. He said he had never owned a car longer than this one. He told me that when he got it, it had a dealership plate riveted to the hatch and made them take it off, fill the holes and paint the deck before he took delivery. I told him I just took out his Mulholland inserts this summer. He was an attorney here in Houston and now is a lawyer in Dallas, I think he is about 70 years old now. I could go on and on, but he gave me his email address and I am sending him pictures. He has pictures of it when he had it new and is going to send me copies.

I contact my PO. He was so happy that his car was being cared for. He wrote a great email to me to confirm that the odo never rolled over. I offered to let him take the car out for a drive should he get to Texas. My conversation reinforced the fact that we are just caretakers of a car, not "owners".

I would encourage you to get a picture with him and the car if you can. I tracked down the original owner of my 72 240-Z. Even though he is in his 70's (25 years older than I) he is a great guy and we have become good friends. He had some great stories about the car and I got shots of him with the car and presented him with two framed photos. I found him at the same phone number he had when he bought the car 40 years earlier.

This is a great thread topic. I still have the original Warranty booklet from my 72 240Z that listed the original owner. I did some searching on the internet to try to contact the original owner and found out that unfortunately he passed away in early 90's. I tried to reach out to his family after discovering that but I never received a response from them.

From all the golf balls I found in the back of my car (in the tool bins, under the deck, in the spare wheel well, etc) I think I can conclude that one of the owner(s) played a lot of golf. Furthermore, I found out that my bag of golf clubs fits perfectly on the deck behind the seats!
