Posted October 1, 201113 yr comment_367910 I am installing a full dash cover on a 240 Z and was wondering if anyone has some pointers. For example, the cover gets in the way of the glove box opening and closing. October 1, 201113 yr comment_367926 Well I don't have a 240 nor have I ever done a full dash cover install, however I read a thread where someone had installed one and while they were putting their speedo back in it popped back and was stuck between the original dash face and the dash cover...I honestly don't have a clue how the dash covers work but you might want to think about that if you have to remove and replace the gauges. October 1, 201113 yr comment_367929 i used crumpled up newspapers and wood sticks to make the cover adhere to the old dash in certain areas. the newspapers are used as padding and i propped the sticks against the seats and against the windshield on the top. it helped me "shape" the cover to fit the glove box area better butits still not a perfect fit. i had to do a little adjusting on the glove box hinge to get itto close properly. half caps are the best if you want the glove box area perfect. October 2, 201113 yr comment_367944 Did you loosen the 6 screws at the top of the dash finisher - place the dash cover in the groove so it seats correctly? October 3, 201113 yr Author comment_368036 Yeah, the dash is out of the car on a work bench. There are many areas where the dash cover doesn't touch the original, but it is a nice mold and sort of what I expected to have to work with. Lots of adjusting, banding, and gluing... October 12, 201113 yr comment_369021 Best to install the dash cover with the dash installed in the car. When you go to put it all back in the car you get a lot of flex in the dash thus increasing your chances of messing up what you have installed. I am putting mine in the car now. I have it sitting in there not secured to let it go through some heat cycles to help it mould better to the one in the car currently. *this is my opinion take it or don't....
