Posted October 4, 201113 yr comment_368147 Guys, im stuck with a flat tire, I have a 1978 280z with 14 all around, My back tire got a big slash on the sidewall and i'm stuck becaus no one in town sells 215/60r14. I found some tire shops that can get it for $105 each, but I looked at discount tire and the have the rim and tire packages and I was wondering if I could go with (P195/65R-15). I would like to go wider on the back but just don't know what size of tire I can put on the back. My car was lowered 1 1/5 inch and it has the illumina shocks. Everything else is original. Could some one please tell me what they are running with a lower z, I know that this has been brought up several times but, I just don't have the time to look because I'm getting the car tow as we speak and need to make a decision pretty quick. October 4, 201113 yr comment_368161 First off, I assume there is no spare for the band aid?I have 215 60 14's on my car that have no interference issues. I'm taking them off and replacing the wheels/tires with 205 60 15's which appear to be almost the exact outer diameter. In both cases the wheels are 7" wide, and obviously the wheel width will limit the tire width. I think 195's are a bit narrow if you need any kind of performance, and 65 side walls are a bit tall = sidewall flex. October 4, 201113 yr comment_368163 I run 225 - 60 R14 all the way around on my car. It's a late 260Z with new KYB's all around and slightly lowered. No issues at all with clearance.I also had a very hard time locating these locally in Austin and ended up getting a set of BF Goodrich of the size listed above from tirecrawler.com. I had never used them before and they were the only one that claimed they had them in stock. They also had the best prices at around $90. Was a little unsure about using them but pulled the trigger. Had them at my house in about 3 days. Worked out great.Mike. October 5, 201113 yr comment_368257 I have 195/65 R15 all around and they fit perfectly. Speedo is pretty accurate with these tires as well. Here are a couple photos: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40967-stuck-with-a-flat-tire-help/#findComment-368257 Share on other sites
October 5, 201113 yr comment_368260 First off, I assume there is no spare for the band aid?78s came with that crappy collapsible spare with the 'can of air'. Very seldom are they actually servicable after all these years. The one time I used mine didn't exactly enstill confidence..........
