Posted October 6, 201113 yr comment_368361 Anyone else buy one of these (Code: 40-3401A)? First I do appreciate someone taking the initiative to produce these. Nevertheless, the chrome work could have been done better. For the $270 I paid for a piece of plastic with a few cents worth of chrome, I think it shouldn't look out of the box like a panel that's been in a car for 20 years. The chrome work is not first class. Unfortunately this is probably the only option available outside of finding a Nissan part somewhere. My primary complaint is with the lettering. The lettering looks worn and thin. I haven't decided whether to return it or not. You can get some optional decals for later styles ($25), which I also purchased. If you're looking for a concours part, I don't think this is it. October 6, 201113 yr comment_368409 Call Motorsport. They are usually pretty good about making things right, (if they can). Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/40990-motorsport-auto-heater-control-panel/#findComment-368409 Share on other sites

October 7, 201113 yr comment_368508 First, I'd contact MSA (phone, not email) to discuss your concerns. Give them a chance to respond prior to making any judgement. But second, I wonder what the "chrome" process is - especially when the "chrome" is applied. Is the chrome applied over the black? Or is the entire part chromed and then the black is applied over the chrome? If the latter, it may be possible to make the lettering better defined by carefully cleaning more black paint off of the letters. But I would not attempt this without getting MSA's approval! You don't want to eliminate your return possibility by modifying it w/o permission. October 8, 201113 yr Author comment_368615 I'm not going to do anything with this part. I just wonder how it got past the stringent QA process at MSA. I mean, I doubt I'm the only person that can see this.
