My girlfriends new 2012 Fiat 500C weighs in at 2400 pounds, fully loaded. But, it's nothing like a 240Z or a Miata. And it's a gutless wonder with 100 HP. I got to admit that it handles well around town and has decent acceleration, but I bet that out on a track it will show it's true colors, all show and no go.

Next year (2013) the Abarth version is due to be released. That should be a car to write home about.

Ive seen used lotus Elise models for around 30k

My wife bought me a track day package for Christmas last year, and I upgraded to the Elise (was supposed to drive a supercharged Cobalt). What a fun car! Handled amazing and it was on 185's in the front and I think 205's in the rear. Didn't really remind me of my Z though.

My daily friver is a Mini cooper S 2007 its engine is 170HP and about same as torque. and it weight 2486 pounds. its fun to drive but like my friend Francois

says the Z need more driver talent. the Mini has traction crontrol and all that fancy stuff so it is more permissive.

Agree with Racer_z the Abarth is going to be Something i think they will be in the showrooms this May in Canada.

I had the pleasure of seeing the Subaru BRZ with the emphasis being on “Z” it truly reminded of the first time I saw a Datsun Z. I believe this comes close to what an updated early Z would be today. jlp

I'm waiting for the second model year though----I never buy first generation anything, there are always niggling QC and design issues they address in the later versions.

I believe that this will be my next car purchase as well. I, like you, will wait and let them shake it out a bit first. jlp

:Here is my own interpretation... with proper sub frame, proper stance/suspension, its body complete stock looking with euro naked bumpers, euro rear lights, mini chrome bullet side view mirrors , Panasports wheels, A/C and leather seats and yes that Z is on my driveway

Personally I don't want 500hp and 18" wide tires that cost $600 apiece. Or an 18 speaker stereo, with 1" of padding and carpet on every piece of sheet metal in the car.

Give me a 240Z with upgraded suspension, 30 extra horsepower out of a 280ZX motor with FI and 5-speed, 4 wheel disc brakes, and I'm a happy man.

I would, however, pop for airbags. They're lifesavers.
