mass air flow wires to fuel pump

mass air flow wires to fuel pump missing (1978) did the 1978 turn on fuel in run possition differently, the 1978 electricle schematic shows these wires missing and says (useless) Other schematics, (the color one) show these wires going to fuel pump, ????
