October 18, 201113 yr comment_369512 My 77 has a 5 speed. I believe it is stock. There may be a different clutch But I believe it should just drop right in. I could be wrong. October 18, 201113 yr comment_369513 Use the clutch disc and pressure plate that you have now, use the bearing, collar and release lever from the 4 speed in the 5 speed and everything will work just fine. The dimensions of the 4 speed and 5 speed are the same. So do not re-use the ones that came with your 5 speed (despite them being in potentially better condition or whatever). Also, if you have an early model Z, you'll want to retain your early shorter driveshaft. Otherwise, a later model car will utilize the same longer shaft. On an early model, you'll notice that the shifter is close to the edge of the cut out on the tranny tunnel. For this to work, you'll have to use one of those bent shift levers...straight ones wont work. I have a stock '75 280Z with four speed manual and I want to install a five speed manual with a turbo flywheel as part of a turbo swap. How does this change things? October 26, 201113 yr comment_370314 It changes everything.......you'll need a different clutch and pressure plate (for the 240mm flywheel)and a clutch collar to work with the turbo (2 plus 2) clutch. Don't use the turbo clutch IMO unless you've got over 250 h.p........The juice ain't worth the squeeze!
