Sorry those pics didn't turn out very well. Basically the chamber looks like it's pitted vs. all the others that still have the machine finish (under the carbon of course). The sidewall near the exhaust valve has some fairly good pits. I tried to get them in the two pics. It looks like either detonation, or possibly corrosion.

Oh its an e-31 head. Well I think you might have an issue that was problematic with the e-31 heads. You definetly need to have the head checked out, but might be worth the effort. Becareful though, you might catch that awful 'while i'm at it disease' and put bigger valves and unshroud, ect.............

Blue, I did some searching and saw the pics you posted of yours. Mine doesn't look as severe, but I'm guessing it would be electrolysis. My car did sit for 23 years before I got it and I'm pretty sure there might have been some HG leaking going on before it was parked. It does/did run good though.....

So, when I take this thing in, if the shop I go to checks it out and feels its repairable, what do you guys feel is "reasonable" price wise to have it refreshed? I'm not gonna go off the deep end or anything, just what should be done. I've had some suggestions on where to take it from a friend who's more of a motor guy than I am but I've never had to have any head work done and don't want to get $crewd in the process.
