Cool thanks! I will get one. I always wanted one. I never knew the price dropped so much. I remember looking at one in the late 80's called the Fox and Hound. It was ~ 200 to 300 if I recall correctly... heck I spent $80 on a weidmeuller co-ax cable stripping termination tool now a similar is $10 at radio shack.

In subsea telecom we put a 5Hz to 150Hz AC "tone" on the cable for ROV's and sometimes divers to detect under the ocean floor... good to about 750km at 10Hz then the capacitance has eaten the signal.

My 9/71 has a solo red/white in that area. It has a connector at that area and the wire runs into the engine bay area and it comes from the dash area. It's probably a 14 guage wire. I can trace it down later if that is what your talking about, and I can take a pic if that helps.

Could that possibly be that famous #26 single wire connector from the Single Wire Connector Index we discussed on another post?

(By the way, I presume you already know, those two wires to the right of the red wire are for your Step Light.)

I can't find a single indication of a RED only wire going to the back of the car. Can you unwrap the bundle just aft of the passenger seat and see if it DOES go all the way to the back of the car and not stop at the passenger seat area? The passenger seat had the Seat Belt Warning Buzzer circuitry added for later builds (still considered "early") as well as the tattle tale sensor attached to the bottom of the seat cushion AND the Parking Brake Lead. I'm still looking for a wire schematic that encompasses all those circuits.
