Posted October 25, 201113 yr comment_370156 As you will find out, I am not afraid to ask questions if it assists me in getting closer to hearing my Z turn over for the first time. Some of you may have read in another section that I drained the coolant yesterday, flushed the radiator, and refilled with new. Not until I had put the new coolant in did I realize there was a hose or two that were leaking coolant straight out. Wish I would have plugged the system back up and filled with water to check for leaks, but aren't we all smarter looking back. Whether it be due to dry rotting, or whatever I do not care...I am just unsure what hoses I need to purchase. I have searched and found nothing so far. Here are pictures of them, and yes they have been disconnected and taped in an upward position as to not let coolant run all over my garage floor. Thanks again for all the help! I can tell this forum is slowly becomming an addiction of mine. This is towards the front of the car. The leak is coming from the braided hose, but on the firewall side of the engine bay. I am just trying to clarify which hoses I am speaking of. Another shot of the same hose. It runs down the block just below the spark plugs. Lastly, this is the 2nd hose I spoke of. Yes, my friend cut through the one hose rather than undoing the clamps. I apologize for his method of attack. October 25, 201113 yr comment_370170 Thesea re the heater hoses. 5/8" if I recall correctly. I think there is a bit 3/4" hose as well. Take the pieces with you to the parts store and match up the sizes. This type of hoes is typically sold per foot. October 25, 201113 yr comment_370177 All easy fixes. Some hoses are still available from Nissan. You can order them all through MSA. and if you want the original braided style (expensive) you can get them through esprist. November 6, 201113 yr Author comment_370997 Hate to bring up something that has been answered, but for clarification purposes.....I can just get generic heater hose from the parts store for these? Or do I need the direct replacement from MSA. I have looked into both.Jamie Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/41168-need-to-find-out-what-the-namepart-of-these-hoses-are/#findComment-370997 Share on other sites
November 6, 201113 yr comment_371006 Generic heater hose will work fine. The only reason to get the MSA hoses is for the original look. November 6, 201113 yr comment_371057 Just a note, the ones that go through the firewall are custom bent to fit perfectly. You certainly CAN run standard by the foot hoses here, but if you want to buy it and forget it, with a perfect fit, I would go with OEM heater hoses. Again, I am a stickler for originality and perfect fit. November 7, 201113 yr comment_371100 I bought the braided hoses from esprit through msa and also have a set if the Nissan non braided hoses. I can vouch that the braided hoses are exact matches in terms of lengths and bends. Pricey but a rounding error compared to the cost of this restoration. November 9, 201113 yr Author comment_371290 Went with the MSA heater hose that runs the length of the block up to the firewall. The other hose, that is shorter I wil probably just get generic auto parts store hose for. It does not seem to have too much of a bend to it, so I figure I will go the generic route with it. It will cost like $1, so if it doesn't work out I won't be out too much. Slowly but surely getting parts in/on....Jamie Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/41168-need-to-find-out-what-the-namepart-of-these-hoses-are/#findComment-371290 Share on other sites
