January 5, 200322 yr Author comment_22209 It just looked like a front engined car...what appears to be fuel inlets are in the rear and what appears to be exhaust is forward of the centerline. Just seemed backwards for a rear engined car.Really cool though. For most of the race I thought it must be some sort of Mustang. the website wasn't real clear on where the current 12 is sourced. Is it a Jaguar block?steve77steve Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4122-what-is-a-lister/#findComment-22209 Share on other sites
January 5, 200322 yr comment_22217 I was wondering about that exhaust in the midle of the car also?! If the engine is in center which is more than possible. After all the nose is so low and short.I would put my money on the guess that it is Jaguar based engine. The car being made in england and the size of the motor points to that direction....But Who knows...The Lister logo seems to have some influence from Lotus logo...Mainly the colors. January 6, 200322 yr comment_22253 Lister has been a British chassis builder since at least the 1950's. There are several old front engine Listers that race in vintage racing. Even back then they were tube chassis, lightweight bodies with large engines. Also, they were good looking and fast. The vintage cars seem to mostly be Jag straight sixes and Chevy V8's.I hadn't heard of them much until they rejoined european racing a few years back.Have fun!
