My speedo reads 41,000. The paper work says 241,000

I do not see what you see in the photo, it is showing an unreadable digit in the 10K window and 4558 in the readable windows. This is what the owner represents the car to have 4558 miles. I have told him that he would have to be able to prove the stated provenance of this car. I will consider his representation of this car honest at this point. In our last exchange of information he confirmed that the car has been stored covered and under a carport for its entire life. This explains the oxidation and surface rust in the engine area. I had conversation with Les Cannaday as well as Carl Beck about this car and we can all agree that it is not a $30,000 car. If all other information is correct and as I said it is not up to me to question this young man's honesty, this would be a great starting place for a beautiful example of a 1972 240Z. I am not buying the car, if I were, as I have clearly stated, he would have to provide proof of the cars history. I have attached a couple more photos Jason sent me of the car. I kindly explained that even with the low mileage this is not a $30,000 example and suggested that if he wants to establish a realistic value he should contact Carl Beck.

More/better photos if you are still chatting with the owner. I thinking anyone on this board would want high rez images and the usual money shots (frame rails, doglegs, batter tray, fuel hatch...) 300x225 pixel images make it look like a 104K mile car and leave a horrible first impression.

I contacted the seller few days ago and got the same photes. The owner was her uncle and she swears that it is the original. Well, unfortunately, it is not.

If you look at the worn driver's side cushon, engine bay, undercar, and son on.

Having said that, it is a really clean 100K mile car with no cracks on the dash.

Could you share the additional photos of the interior etc? I would love to have this car as a starting point for a restoration. The problem is 30k is not a reasonable starting point for the car even if it were a 4500 mile car. I have her number at this point I may give her a call.

Why are you guys getting so hyper about a $30 grand '72? Recent rumors are showing extremely high numbers for bone stock Zzzzz. Why just the other day I heard of a bone stock 280 valued at like $19 grand..... I'm sorry. Had to do something with the extra hour. That took up part of it, my sock drawer will take up the rest.

I agree and disagree. I should have said, ASKING prices are starting to rise, which they are, BUT in this economic climate, there are many owners that need to thin out the fat. Those owners are listing low in comparison, and those are selling first, of course. But what we consider LOW now, was considered PREMIUM, in 2006. In 2006, $8000, for an average driven but clean 240Z was pretty high. Now it's considered fine, for an average driven car, in clean condition. But then again, what isn't more expensive now? This is strictly my loose observation. I, by no means, follow the market tightly. I bought cheap cars, and put in my sweat equity, over a very long period, with a very limited budget in mind. Not a business, or a serious investment for me. Just fun, and sanity.

is it a 72 red 240z? when i was at the cleveland convention there was a gold medalion red 72 zed with around 4500 miles. the owner only drove

it to get the mail at the end of his driveway. i wonder if it's the same one, as there can't be many zeds with that low miles.

you're talking about is one of TWO twin 1972 240's owned by Mark Lambert, president of the MD Z

Club: one to drive, and one trailer queen. And I MEAN trailer queen: 4400 original documented

miles, and she rides inside the enclosed trailer behind the Titan everywhere she goes. GORGEOUS

car, and has been at nearly every ZCCA (or ZCON) National. Now I do believe that Mark's car COULD

pull $30 grand if he ever decided to sell her. (Which I perceive to be highly unlikely.)

Now from what I can see, the 113 avocado car in this thread doesn't appear to be anywhere close.

But giving credit where it's due, the gal has started high and has plenty of wiggle room.

Another case in point: our #00171 car has 28K original miles. This I know is authentic because I

bought her from the original owner, whom I knew, on 8/24/1973 when she only had 23K on her.

The point being, I wouldn't doubt that there are probably a handful of low-milers still around.

But as they say, "The Devil is in the details." Which in this case means being able to document

the alleged mileage with paperwork in the form of service receipts, purchase papers, cancelled

checks or credit card statements, and maybe even an old registration or title.

I agree with H4LIGHTS and esprist: there seems to be a pretty serious disconnect between

the apparent amount of usage versus the claimed low mileage.

This itself would cause me to think in the $6000-$10,000 range, nowhere near $30,000.
