Heater Switch-'72Z

Here is an easy one (hopefully). Finnally getting around to fixing several things that do not work. Several years ago, after working fine, my heater fan would not turn on with the switch. I presumed that it was as simple as the switch, however someone told me that it was probably the heater core. I do get heat but not from the blower. Any thoughts on this? If turns out to be the switch, does anyone have one available? Nothing on eBay.

If you still get heat, it's not the core. It's probably the switch or the motor itself or a fuse.

I think MSA has new switches, or perhaps one of us can come up with a used one. Someone ought to be able to come up with a used heater fan motor as well.

The Heater core doesn't have any electrical connections whatsoever. The only connection that goes to the core, is to the water control valve and that is a mechanical connection via the cable from the heater control panel.

The switch on the HCP is either disconnected from the harness that connects it to the blower, OR the ground at the heater blower motor is off, OR the fuse that powers the switch / blower (which is an inline fuse and NOT in the fuse box) is blown.

Lastly, if the switch itself is bad, it's really surprising that all 3 speeds would die at once unless it is the ground that died and then it was the ground cable and not the switch.

I vote for the in-line fuse. A real b---- to get too. I found mine had melted the fuse holder.. Must have been hot at one time?
