Should I change the color?

I have a 1983 280ZX 2 seater. Currently it is gold with a tan interior. I am going to have it painted and am redoing the interior. I am pretty sure that I am going to redo the interior black, with maybe a contrasting color to make it pop. However I am not sure about the exterior color. I am going to keep the car pretty much stock for the time being. I am not certain about the current gold paint. If I do change the color I was thinking about viper blue with white racing stripes, or possibly silver with white stripes, similar to the new SS camaro. I was just trying to see what others thought. I know only I can decide if I like the current color which is ok, but I think it might look better in one of the other colors.

Changing color on a car is hard to do, if you want to do it right. Lots and lots of extra disassembly required to get to all the old color for the change, such as removing the motor. If you just want to change the exterrior color and don't care about all the little details, paint it however you like, but you will end up being bothered by the old gold. Every time you see it, you will say to yourself "wish I would have done the extra work." Experience talking here.

Thanks,

If I do change the color I am going to do it right. I am a perfectionist. However because I am a perfectionist I have to have a perfect paint job either way which requires almost the same degree or dissassembly to get. I dont like it when you can see that the panels were not loosened prior to painting, leaving little tale tale signs of the new paint job. So money is not the real determining consideration. Its gonna cost an arm and a leg either way. But you are absolutly right. Thanks
