260Z,

I have had a look and could only find part no 6305.140 (Pro-kit) for a 240 and part no. 6303.140 for a 75-78 280. Depending on what year your 260 is the 240 part may fit.

I have a 74 260 and was looking at the same springs. I was going to make an inquiry with the local Eibach dealer in Sydney. As mine is an early 260 I feel there is a good chance that the 240 parts will fit. I have transferred front struts from a 240 onto my car and they fitted with no problems. I have also transferred some heavier duty lowered springs from a 240 with no problems.

Hope this helps.

THis may not help you guys who aren't in the US, but I highly recommend shox.com if you're shopping for springs or struts online. I went to them with the best price I could find online and they were able to beat it and ship within 1 day. Nice service!

Oh and I also ordered the EIbach Pro-Kit. THat was the only one I could find for a 240Z - probably only 1 kit for 260's also.

I have Eibach's pro-kit on my 260z (early - pre 8/74) and had to go to Motorsports for my springs. The set for the 240z does fit the early 260z however Eibach stopped making these springs for this car. They only make them for 240's or 280's. If you buy from shox.com they will not, nor will Eibach provide you with any kind of warranty toward the springs should they fail. If you go to motorsports they will give you a warranty but not through Eibach. The other thing to pay attention to is the part number on the springs. There is a # with a decimal in it and the springs with the .10 # go in the front and the .2 # goes in the back. I found this out the hard way as there are no instructions in the box to tell you this. Your car will look really wierd if you get these reversed. Anyway good luck.

Here you go 260Z

There are two types of 260's. The early 260 (built up to august 74) has thin bumbers and turn signal lights below the bumper. The late 260 has fat bumpers and turn signals in the grille above the bumper. Motorsports phone # is 1.800.633.6331. They're really cool and will answer any of your questions. This is their order line just for your info. My guess is you need the 280Z springs set but motorsport will know for sure.

I'm not sure what you are looking for in regard to shocks. There are several manufactures to choose from; KYB, koni, Tokico adjustable, non-adjustable. Really depends on what your looking for. I personally have the non-adjustable tokico's with the pro-kit and love the handling. It will depend on how you want to use the car. If your racing alot you might need adjustables. If it's a weekend knockaround car, occasional driver you don't need the adjustability. I think you'll find a lot of opinions here. Do a search on this site for suspensions and you might find some more info.

Another thing I highly recommend is the bump-steer spacers at a minimum. It will help preserve your tires. If you want to farther look at the performance camber kits.

Do you have poly bushings yet? If not get them and install them when your doing your springs.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the info so far. My car has all things indicatinc it to be later 74. Bumpers and grille mounted turnsignals.

I am looking for ultimate driving pleasure for reasonable cost...I am going to drive a lot more in future. Both street and track. On track mostly for fun...But you newer know.

I can Get the bushings in Finland. And I will get those in order soon. IT seems to be very hard to get any other Shocks than Konis or some cheaper non-adjustable from a discount store here.

When I look for Tokicos in Finland on search engines I get nothing. I have not yet found any retailer that has Tokicos... The Tokico illumina kit which has springs on it for 550 bucks seems pretty good bargain....Even if I have to pay customs and tax and delivery it would probably be considerably vheaper than to get Konis and Eibachs here. Konis cost about 190 bucks /each. My first info on Eibach is around 380 bucks which is not so bad.

If I deicide to buy Eibach here I am going to nuy the shocks here too. So do I go for gas shocks or basic shocks?

That tokico package does sound pretty reasonable. In the U.S., Tokico illumina shocks are $150.00 per corner. The Illumina's are adjustable gas units. Non-adjustable tokico's price out at $77/corner. I couldn't tell you what amount that translates into for you. :stupid:

The springs here are $230 for a set. The thing I can't tell is if they are progressive rated springs. You'd have to check on that and decide if that is something you want. There is a spring available called a European spring that increase spring rate from 11% to 18% and only mildly lowers the car. This springs are from Nissan competition.

Hopefully, someone will chime in here who can speak to the ride issue and make a recommendation about the struts for track/street. I know that with my Eibach's, poly bushings and the non-adjustable shocks my car is pretty tight. I also feel any bumb in the road and find myself sloloming on the road quite a bit. I have heard that the adjustables are best for the combination driving but they're considerably more expensive. That's something you get to try and figure out.:classic:

260Z,

Eibach originally is a german company but they don't have the progressive springs here in Europe available. I got in contact with the Eibach engeneers because I had a problem with my Eibachs that I got from Motorsports: When jumping at high speed (about 90 mls/h) over the railways at a crossing I had a hard landing and the right rear spring bended to the outside and damaged the strut housing. You must know the car will be lowered by about 3 cm when using Eibachs. I sent the spring to Eibach Germany for testing. They had to ask their US affiliate for the technical data because these springs are manufactured in their US factory.

That's where you or your dealer has to look and to get them from.

By the way, the springs are still okay and work fine now, esp. together with the Tokico shocks. The mistakes were: 1.) I put the rear springs upside down( the "Eibach" brand must be readable) 2.) I forgot the spacer underneath the rear insulator and 3.) I didn't install a bump stop.

The Eibach /Tokico combo is my recommendation! Not to forget: Joseph C. from MSA was a great help !

Good luck

Rolf

Do you have gas shocks or ordinary? Adjustable or non adjustable?

I am just wondering because if I by the Eibachs from Finnish store which seems reasonable then I am going to buy the shocks here too. And it seems that only adjustable shocks here are konis. Tokico is not known and most likely not imported.

I think that the finnish price for Eibach is ok and most likely I am going to buy them here.

By the way what modifications I need to suspension when dropping the car 3 cm? I am planning to change all the bushings too.

This is info on Koni Shocks. According to this after rls30-060000 the construction is different. Did the construction remain same in 280z? Is it safe to assume that 280z springs and shocks fit to my 260z? My vin number is higher than that above.
