White-faced guages

Hey guys, I've seen decals to apply to your guage faces that are white, but I've been looking all over the internet and can't find them anymore. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and where I can find them? Any help is appreciated.

That's cool. I'm going to keep looking around. There's another thread towards the end of this forum that has a link to a site, but it's not decals and they cost about $120. They have to get a minimum order of 20 sets before they'll produce any (tooling costs and stuff). If I find any other decals I'll let you know.

Can you really print these and install them ? Somehow I don't trust that method. Even buying a vinyl sticker and putting that on the guage seems to be an evil thing to do.

Doesn't someone make a plastic cover for the guages? I mean, something that will snap into place that can be removed at a later date?

I seem to remember finding this kind of thing last year. But, I blew it off because my project is so far out.

Mike I've seen it done on a friends 240z. He had the white guages with blue bulbs looks nice. He printed them on UV resistant paper and glued them over the top of the originals I believe. I myself would like to keep my guages original and classic looking rather than that boy racer style. If I ever did do it I'd buy a set of old guages from a wrecker and use them.

Gav,

Steve Graber is the man responsible for these. They came from his website about his datsun-ferrari replica. He made them to replace the standard dash with the ferrari type dash and use the original 240z gauges.

Funny thing Is I also saved these years ago and began editing them in photoshop, never finished. Probably about 99% done though, so if you want them in white without the phantom logo, give me a day or two and I'll finish them off.

I was planning to do a imperial, and metric set, and can basically put any background color in them (eg, red or yellow). If you have photoshop you can put any color you want. I also want to use a font closer to the original datsun font. So if anybody has their gauges apart can you scan the faces, or take a high quality digital photo (i dont have access to a Z at the moment).

Instructions about printing and fittind are available at steves site. http://www.newtier.com/graber/z-car/gauges.html

Hope Steve doesn't mind. I'm not planning to sell them. I just thought people might want a "clean" set on white.

He does sell his version printed up for around $40.

I've been considering doing this again. Of course I'll be buying another set of guages dont wanna molest the originals incase I get sick of the white. Which I probably will, but my guages have a few blown globes and I figure if I'm gonna pull em' out to change those I may aswell have a bit of fun and do something different.

My main question is does anybody have pictures of these installed in their Z's????:classic:
