Plating Nickle Acetate

I want to put a nice shiny silverlike finish on several parts on several cars that I have. I do not want to spend a arm and leg to do it though. After researching it seems Nickle plating using Nickle acetate seems pretty uncomplicated and inexpensive.

Oh by the way, I have a chemistry degree (do not use it anymore), but suffice it to say I know how to handle and deal with chemicals. So dealing with dangerous chemicals does not bother me.

I see a lot of kits but in my opinion they are ripping people because they do not know any better and are weary of dealing with chemicals.

I have had a time trying to find a chemical supplier here in Birmingham. I am sure that I can have these chemicals mailed to me. Where can I find Nickle Acetate? Does anyone have a formula/ process that they use that is inexpensive and gives nice siver shiny parts?
