hey guys

Last weekend i bought a 76' 240k, (posted it in my ride section)

Just got a few questions about some things i will get started on, as im new to the datto scene!

now i know parts are going to be hard to come by, but so far from what i can see..

-2 front doors would be good to get hold of as these are rusted out. no big deal as im replacing other rusted out areas with new metal

-the rear seat is badly torn at the top as well as front seats are ripped. (reupholstered?)

-rear garnish left hand side chrome strip is needing to be replaced

-i have got a set of twin SU's off what i beleive a 240z. are these worthy of putting on as the motor will be coming out and freshened up

-grille is a bit rusted.. maybe a replacement

-Both front and rear bumpers are dented

-Dash is cracked, but the dash mat has been completly glued on! :ogre:

-drivers door panel has been cracked- but both have GT badges, as well as grille

Good points on the car is:

-All wood around guages and center console is perfect

-All guages and dash lights work

-fan works

-all lights work

-has a/c

-5 speed

-car is drivable and drives not too bad

-has original steering wheel, radio and tape player

The story goes i was told it was a gt. but compliance plates do not have gt stamped on it. so im unsure. doesnt bother me too much. and information on these cars is so hard to come by. Doesnt seem to be definitive answers.

but im going to drive it around for a couple more weeks, then its coming home to be stripped apart, full panel work, spray job, engine bay, motor freshened, interior, etc etc..

what are your experiences and suggestions with the fun i have to come??

Not a big update. I'm currently painting my front struts and bits to put the front end together. I have a workshop manual on the way.

And something interesting, looking through my paperwork I found this, seems a doctor originally bought my other shell

ok. motivation is back!

even with a cold, i went and stripped brake caliper and painted it, finished painting strut, finally found the other tension rod, painted it, cut a stock spring down so i whack it in temporarily and started figuring out the order of all the bushes etc.

after seeing prices of some spares, i quite enjoy looking at my stockpile

ive got 8 tail lights, 5 garnishes, 3 dashes, 15 door trims etc haha

Next is to get the other side strut done then once its back rolling, start doing rear brakes

sorry my bad, i saw the rust in the rear door jam picture and wrongly concluded you had a coupe and that the rear quarter had been unpicked.. been a while since i have seen sedan :)

I may have missed it, but what paint did you use on the crossmember and struts?

Anyone got rear quarter and taillight Panel 'skyline' badges they want to sell? Or I've got lots of spares if you wanna work out a deal ;)

Email Jason in my sig. Got my rear qtr skyline badges through him. Ditto for the GT badges and he GTR grill/rear panel ones. I need him to get the rear panel skyline badge and dash skyline badge. Hope this helps

while ive been working on the front end, ive been looking all over the car and one thing i noticed was the inside of my doors had a lot of surface rust.

My doors have had the major rust cut out and patched, but i thought id treat the inside of the doors before they get any worse.. especially seeing as the old 240Ks have to be the rustiest cars i know

So i gave them a light sand, then got my bottle of chemsearch rust converter out, painted it on, then after a day it had turned black, i sprayed killrust enamel all inside the doors!

hopefully THAT will fight that bloody 240K cancer :) looks a lot neater now
