Posted November 27, 201113 yr comment_372979 Anyone know the height of stock springs off the strut housings. Mine are about 11 inches in back and maybe 12 inches in front. Does this sound to be stock? Here's a crappy cell phone pic of the rear spring. November 28, 201113 yr comment_372983 ~14.5" is norm in early 70's for unsprung front and rear.8.5turns in front and 10.5 in the rear. The rear spring in the photo is 8 turns so 2.5 coils and ~3.5"(extrapolated as 2.5/10.5) seem to be missing......so they look like cut stock rear springs.http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/springs/index.html Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/41489-stock-240-spring-measurements/#findComment-372983 Share on other sites
November 28, 201113 yr Author comment_372989 Thanks Blue. Wonder if Im going to have any issues running these springs with new kyb gas struts? November 28, 201113 yr comment_372994 I have read that kyb's and lowering springs have problems but you will have to measure excursions to ensure that this is not internet wives tales. If you have issues, you can install 280z rear shock mounts to increase strut extension. Maybe double up bump stops too if and strut compressing too far is the problem. November 28, 201113 yr Author comment_372998 Cool. Think Im going to install what I have and see how it works out. I thought my 73 was sitting pretty damn low. This is the suspension from that car, so it explains alot. If I have problems I guess I can always buy stronger springs. Had the tech tips open today working on the car.
