Posted November 28, 201113 yr comment_373030 Hello I am just trying to finally catch-up on my 76 280z and trying to find that infamous fuel-afm problem, in the process I checked the fuel pump , do you think the bending in the fuel line (picture) would affect the flow in the whole fuel process? November 28, 201113 yr comment_373076 This is a joke question, right. Am I on Candid Camara ? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/41498-fuel-pump-is-this-wrong/#findComment-373076 Share on other sites
November 28, 201113 yr comment_373078 Cesar, the kink appears to be on the intake line. Right? I'd say that restriction is quite likely to be sucked shut. If it were on the pressure side, you might have a bit better chances. November 28, 201113 yr comment_373082 That Airtex/Delphi aftermarket fuel pump could be part of the problem also...... November 28, 201113 yr comment_373103 It looks like it's almost already closed. That should be fixed. That type of pump does not like to have a restriction on the inlet side. The way to get the pump where you want it, with no kinks in the lines is to run a loop, or big circle, of fuel line on each side. The loop will avoid kinks and let you build a nice, rubber insulated mount for the pump. You don't want to drive the car with the pump flopping around on the fuel lines, and you don't want to strap the pump body directly to the metal mount. It will be very noisy. December 4, 201113 yr Author comment_373630 I'm trying to put the fram filter between the fuel tank and the pump, however the hose that goes to the pump it is not a 3/8 as everybody is saying it seems to be a 1/2 , attached is a picture of the fuel tank nipple, I do not know if the owner before me tried to "reinvent" the way the fuel flow goes ,due to the fact that he replace the OEM fuel pump and removed the damper , any thoughts?
