Another reason to like Adam Carolla

He never said that his tax group pays 50%. What he said was that, in California, before the economy fell apart, that 1% of taxpayers paid 50% of the taxes that came in here. He never said that it was 'his tax group'. Whether or not he fits in that group would be subject to interpretation, but the group of "self-entitled monsters" he describes definately exists. If someone else had said this maybe it wouldn't have ruffled as many feathers but it's really more about the message than the messenger.

Where is the confusion? Adam describes People who who Demand a job or wealth without merit. And I say he does not deserve the wealth he feels he is entitled to.

What wealth did he say that he was entitled to? I must have missed that part. The guy worked himself into that position from nothing. He's not a silver spoon trust fund guy, he's more of a Horatio Alger story.

So what If he likes the same type of car as me. He is a useless jack arse. What does he do? what does he produce? what innovations, inventions, ideas? or even a hard days worth of work. I believe He is a privileged a$$hole that has been given a free ride and spouts crap. Fine free speech.

He is an entertainer. The market values his entertainment at the rate that he is able to charge for his services. If he says he won't do a TV show for less than $50M, guess what? He won't be doing a TV show. If (when) he loses popularity, as they all do, he'll be out of a gig.

But I still think he is describing himself (someone who feels entitled). And he is full of B.S. His tax group does not pay 50% look it up. I am not one of those 99% people. I consider myself a 50%, someone that works for a living. Spouting off is not work. If it was I would get paid for typing this.

No, he is not describing himself. He is describing the OWS whiners. He has worked his way into his living and I never heard him on TV complaining about what he was owed by society when a show that he was on was canceled.

Seems to me your problem is you think that only certain kinds of work are valuable, and you seem to believe that you have the knowledge to ascertain what is or isn't. I suggest you pick up "The Fatal Conceit" by Hayek. I think he'll disabuse you of that notion. No person or controlling group can accurately say how the value of building a house relates to being a TV host or a banker or a doctor. The dispersed knowledge of people who choose to purchase products from one of these professionals determine their proper price, and attempts to arbitrarily change the valuations in the name of "fairness" have many bad unintended consequences.

BTW, I'd be shocked if he wasn't in the top 1% of earners, who do pay 37% of the income taxes: http://www.american.com/archive/2007/november-december-magazine-contents/guess-who-really-pays-the-taxes

You are probably correct. In at least that I do not value a lot of the talking heads that are out there including Mr. Carolla. I would call it a stretch to compare his likes to a doctor, engineer, teacher, mechanic, carpenter or even a fast food employee.

But I do agree that there are a number of whiners that demand employment without earning the right to be employed. Mr. Carolla is a collage dropout that could not hold any other job other than an entertainer. He got lucky. I also think the tide will turn. I think the next generation will not have the same sense of entitlement that we see now.

OWS'er? You meen Occupy Wall Steet protester? HA Hell no! I said I work for a living did'nt I. I just think Mr.Carolla is a Jack arse that's all.

Anyhow back to work on my Z. The driver door handle snapped off yesterday. :tapemouth
