phi22b@ck Posted January 8, 2003 Share #1 Posted January 8, 2003 Ok, so I have cut out all of teh rust and I want to weld in patches for my battery tray, but the wiring harness enters the engine room near where I am welding and the sparks wont be nice to the harness. :tapemouth How do I disconnect the blue tail end from the junction box that is mounted to the passenger firewall? Here are pictures of what I am talking about -- the tail I want to siconnect is outlined with a red square. I tried to gently pry it out, but this plastic is kind of brittle and I dont want to risk breaking it. Juntion1.jpg shows the front.
phi22b@ck Posted January 8, 2003 Author Share #2 Posted January 8, 2003 here is the back side of the junction block -- again the desired plug for removal is circled in red. THANKS! p
2ManyZs Posted January 8, 2003 Share #3 Posted January 8, 2003 Have you tried a little WD-40 around the plug? In pic one, it looks like you have to gently pry in the tabs that lock it into place, then try rocking it a little to loosen it up. Looks like they are just a push in locking tab by the looks of it in the pic.Got one of those pocket straight screwdrivers you could use to push in on the tabs to unlock it? Or maybe the end of a test light?
phi22b@ck Posted January 8, 2003 Author Share #4 Posted January 8, 2003 I will try that tomorrow... Here is the extent of the rust damage to the battery area... DOH -- that was pretty bad!! :devious:
EScanlon Posted January 8, 2003 Share #5 Posted January 8, 2003 Take a look at the openings without plugs. From them you'll be able to determine what and how the connectors are clipped in. Then using your new knowledge, remove or actuate the release mechanism for the connector you want to disconnect. It might be as simple as using a pair of small straight edge screwdrivers to pull back a couple of "wings" or tabs.2¢
