December 16, 201113 yr comment_374577 Any problems with the starter? I'm wondering if something's loose, worn, vibrating, etc.... since we can't exactly tell what the sound is like, it's hard to ponder....Loose heat shield? If it happens at a specific rpm, I'm thinking of something that vibrates and is hitting a resonance frequency... if it were a constant but variable noise, I'd wonder about bearings, springs, etc... December 24, 201113 yr comment_375361 Speedo gear pinion drive? Small enough to have a high-pitched sound & turns with the driveline; it's in the tunnel area. May have worn gear teeth, or a distinct wear pattern to make it whine only at certain RPM. I've seen ones that have become fused or tight to turn. Is the speedometer functioning normally?
