well, so far...

car runs when i spray starting fluid in.

car runs when i hook up a 12v to the fuel pump.

the relay clicks(it's a dual relay so i'm unsure how to tell)

i ran the test in the FIB and I fail a few of them.

the first test fails when testing the control unit pin #10 won't read the battery voltage (however, if i'm in ACC it reads voltage)

the fourth test fails when testing the control unit pin #14,15,30,31,32,33,34 they won't read the battery voltage at all ((however, if i'm in ACC it reads voltage))

i'm kind of stuck now. i'm trying to work with what it says when it fails, but it's a bit of a pain to understand.

says look at EF-54 for the Power Relay, and I'm unsure exactly as what it's wanting me to check.

We are having the exact same issues. I replaced my power relay (which I'm 150% sure is you issue) and I'm doing good. Still not running, but my pump runs in START like it's supposed to. The ACC instead of ON is a condition I also found. I'm pretty sure it's normal. Given that we're both having the same issue. The power relay is hidden right above the hood release. There are two large connectors plugged into it. Looks like this: http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/explodedviews/280z/77fsm/efi%20relay.gif

thanks, and I had found it earlier.

my problem i've found out is a huge electrical issue.

my relay clicks just fine.

i'm slowly going through my entire electrical system(i'd rather not buy a new harness) and finding what exactly is going on. it's complicated basically...

Just because the relay clicks, does not mean that all circuits are operating properly. On page 137 of this manual: http://www.xenons30.com/files/FSM/77_datsun_280z.zip you will find the proper procedure for testing the power relay for correct continuity. You will need an Ohmmeter...

my fuel pump turns on just fine when i disconnect my starter lead, but doens't turn on if it's plugged in.

is that still a relay problem?

No. A component issue more likely. Try playing with the flapper in the AFM.

ok, well tried a few more things.

i connected a 12v to my pump, my car starts and holds idle for about 5 seconds and then starts dying. throttle doesn't rev the engine, and neither does manually moving the AFM.

my turn signals don't work, but everything else works as it should.

my ignition relay is perfectly fine.

my injector/pump relay is fine.

turns signals don't work.

pump only turns on with solenoid disconnected and key turned in the start position.

i'm getting so lost as to what to check for...

ok, made progress.

fixed my blinkers

engine will now start, but dies shortly after.

apparently my fusible links had a bad connection even with the new fuses so I put lower amp fuses in there and it's going through perfectly.

Ha! good job. Was it one near the fuel shut off switch (close to the front of the afm)?

it was actually on the opposite side near the firewall
