Just Bought a 240Z Need Info

I'm not biased against red. Its just that so many Zs that I've looked at have been repainted during their lives and the owners at the time seem to take it upon themselves that a colour-change is in order...and if they change the colour then they usually choose red.

I think that the original colours offered look great (mostly). Sure there are some lary ones - lime yellow and dark orange spring to mind - but these colours suit the car because they reflect the period the car was built in.

My personal favourite colours are Silver, Metallic Blue and Lime Yellow... Red is fine as well... as long as you can lift up the bonnet and see a red engine bay too!

I've nothing against Red.

Red Zeds look great.

I painted my Zed Red. (I dont mean to sound like a Dr Zeus book:classic: )

But it would be nice to see other colour Zeds around.

They look great in almost any color. Mine was painted British racing green (really badly) when I bought it, but was the olive green metallic colour when it left the factory. I like black at the moment, but the zed I have my eye on is pearl white.

Yeah some of the Quokka paper ads mysteriously dont make it onto the website. Ive seen a few 240z advertised in the paper, but haven't been on the website.

The 240z in the quokka sounds expensive for the condition it appears to be in.

I remember reading an ad in the quokka for someone trying to start a datsun car club. Cant remember if it was specifically for 240z. Wonder if it got off the ground?

cheers for the info chris.

so the strengthening ribs on the bell housing were standard?

my car will go back to the original blue one day. Can't stand the red!! was the only thing aboutthe car I didn't like.

My plates are just regular ones but have seen a red zed in freo with the plates redzed hmmm guess what colour it is.

Anyone know where to get those front spoilers, met a guy the other day with the pattern to make fibreglass ones. Said I could use his pattern if I did him a mould too. i was told a rough price would be $160 each. How much are the off the shelf ones?

Welcome W.A Zed

I'ts good to see another Zed fan in Perth, congrats on getting your car, I also saw the car when it was being advertised by the lady in Safety Bay, bye the way, she told me she had the original Hitachi radio in her shed, did this find it's way to you from the guy you bought it from?

I have bought quite a few spares recently but had to get them via eastern states.

Rare Spares in Osborne Park carries a few bit's and pieces (mainly windscreen seals etc) could be worth a call depending on what you are looking for.

It would be nice to know where you W.A guys are, you never know we could be around the corner from each other, I'm in the new suburb of Butler (known to most people as Brighton)

I've seen a few 240's on the road including a nice early Blue one in good nick, anyone know who own's that one?

I am having my car restored starting late Jan/early feb and will be having it painted it's original colour, that really rare colour called Red (so no more bad press against red Zed's guys, I was starting to get depressed reading the threads.

I have just managed to find a 240 engine with an E31 head for a friend of mine, complete engine and head for $150.00 not bad eh?

He has a very early car #99, car was original apart from the head which was nicked while the previous owner was having some engine work done years ago, needless to say he is well pleased with the new head.

It would certainly pay for us guy's to communicate on a regular basis, I am sure we could help each other out from time to time when it came to finding cars for sale, parts etc.

Anyway welcome again W.A Zed

Regards

Lee

Thats pretty cheap for a motor Lee, good work. By the way, who is doing your bodywork. I'd be interested to hear how it goes because I'm putting off some signifcant bodywork at the moment but I have to get it fixed eventually.

Haven't see seen redzed yet even though I spend a lot of time in freo. The last Z I saw was a bronze coloured 260 coupe in West Perth. I happened to be in my Z at the time and we came up to a roundabout from opposite directions. It was quite funny because he did not notice me until the last second, when he did his eyes just about popped out of his head - well I guess you had to be there. I see 280ZXs on a daily basis though, seems time has not caught up with them yet.

I am also interested in a front spoiler Gav, but it depends on the shape. Don't like the spook one much, one like the Z in the top left of this page would be good though. Can you describe it?

Chris

This front spoiler look similar to the one on the top left of the page ( the way it joins to the guards etc ) but does not have the dished section near the bottom of the spoiler. It is more "squarish" and aggressive looking. The guy who has the pattern got it when he bought his car in 79 from some local racing identity (can't remember who). I don't believe this style is readily available.

On the topic of no. plates. Some guy with a vg ute has the plates 'scarab'.

Sacrilege!

I agree ROFL

Did a bad thing today, started the strip down of the Z. Decided I'd start at the front and work my way back, she's looking a bit naked now:ermm: no more Z driving for me for a while :(

Sounds good Gav. Let me know if you decide to make some up cause I'll be keen to grab one.

Does it completely replace everything below the bumper?

Hey Jurven, are you on the Abraham Lincoln? I can see that ship from my office on Level 46 in one of the city buildings. That is one large lump of boat!

Zs are rare in Australia and very rare in Western Australia. Remember that the population of this state is just under 2 million and 2/3 of those are in Perth.... That leaves an area bigger than Texas (I just had to say it!) with just a few thousand people in it!

Sounds like Femantle may be the place to spot a Z.

BTW Lee, I'm in Daglish (nxt to Subiaco).
