December 23, 201113 yr comment_375271 is it a separate transfer case? if it is a stand alone box I'd GUESS yes? purely on the basis nissan don't like changing things. hell if not grab an RB20 box Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/41702-l28box/#findComment-375271 Share on other sites

July 25, 201212 yr comment_396805 Just on this, what manual boxes fit L28 engines? Do any of the RB series fit? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/41702-l28box/#findComment-396805 Share on other sites
July 26, 201212 yr Author comment_396829 have seen rb20's rear half bolted to L series front housing. But 33/34 have heaps bigger internals. There is also a modified housingto to suit s15 boxes Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/41702-l28box/#findComment-396829 Share on other sites

September 25, 201212 yr comment_402566 My C210 uses a standard L housing with the guts scooped out of it and SR20DET internals instead... which is another path to consider. September 28, 201212 yr comment_402808 I pulled the gearbox from a wrecked rally car I bought, but have found the receipt for the work from Mammi Motors in Vic Australia:Strip second hand SR20det g/boxFit all gears into original Skyline L series housingMachine housing to suitSet up internal gear selectors to suitGeneral repair $480 (+ all parts costs and GST in 2006).So that's a yes, some machining required of your L box to get the guts of the SR20 box in. But looking at the inexpensive cost of the work they didn't spend week after week on it!
