Posted December 23, 201113 yr comment_375265 Hi Everyone,I wanted to send some sort of holiday greeting to my friends and colleagues, but it is difficult in today's world to know exactly what to say without offending someone. So I met with my lawyer yesterday, and on her advice I wish to say the following:Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non addictive, gender neutral celebration of the summer solstice holiday practised with the most enjoyable traditions of religious persuasion or secular practices of your choice with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practise religious or secular traditions at all.I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2012, but not without due respect for the calendar of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make our country great (not to imply that Australia is necessarily greater than any other country) and without regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee .By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms:This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/him or others and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. The wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.Best Regards (without prejudice),Name withheld (Privacy Act) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/41719-have-a-politically-correct-festive-season-o/ Share on other sites
December 23, 201113 yr comment_375279 The politically correct "Happy Holidays" is actually Happy Holy Days so it is very religious...makes me smile when I hear it.I have read that the Christmas Tree and Dec 25 date are somewhat based on pagan druids respecting nature and also the change from shortest days of the year to longest (above equator).... so this time covers Christmas, Hanukkah, KWANZAA , Paganism, sometimes Ramadan (plus Muslims respect Jesus and Mary so Christmas is somewhat applicable).... the Agnostics are not sure and it gives Atheists something not to believe in so HAPPY HOLYDAYS!oh yeah... Happy Festivus too. December 23, 201113 yr comment_375285 Priceless, I had to plagiarize this fine work and send it to all on my email list, some changes made, but not to the original thought. Thanks, and Merry Christmas. December 23, 201113 yr comment_375286 Priceless! That would also be the 'winter solstice holiday' over here in the U.S., which was acutally December 21, I believe. Wouldn't you have to state that also the be politically correct? Merry Christmas. December 23, 201113 yr comment_375287 .....celebration of the summer solstice holiday On behalf of those of us in the Northern Hemisphere who are simultaneously celebrating the Winter Solstice and its associated merriment, I graciously accept your inoffensive Southern Hemispheric greeting. And, if you're so inclined, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to our friends down under.Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/41719-have-a-politically-correct-festive-season-o/#findComment-375287 Share on other sites

December 26, 201113 yr comment_375426 BTW- As of Dec. 21 you have 1 year to live- according to that Mayan calendar thing. The Mayans died off long ago and missed that one so I will bet $1,000,000 the world will not end...and I if I lose I won't be here to pay anyway.
